We met early for small group and the kids took advantage of the ice rink near our friend's house. Marlee didn't last that long but Matt enjoyed playing some hockey (that is until the other side was winning -we are still working on teammanship obviously). As for us moms, we got to keep warm in the house.
A common occurence lately. We both find ourselves needing a short doze sometime between 5:30 and 7pm - giving us enough pep to get dinner on the table, homework done and/or the kids ready for bed. Who am I kidding? We still stay up until midnight every night!
Marlee was playing with the music and all of sudden she disappeared and returned with a new get-up on - complete with a hat I can never get her to wear but I think is so adorable. I think she thinks it goes with the rock star persona.
Skiing lessons were interesting tonight as there was a lot of rain. It made for quick line-ups and thankfully the kids didn't seem to mind. I spent most of the time in the chalet - using my laptop and reading - Love that! Afterwards we went to my parents' for dinner (loving that - dinner ready - no prep!) and Matt is becoming quite theconnoisseur for helping in the kitchen and dishing out dessert. He really wants to be involved.
As Drew would put it, I've been busy nesting again these last few days. I prefer to see it as something I always do! It was about time that I went through the box of woodsies and other wooden craft materials from the church and sorted it all. Now all of the shapes have their own baggies, the Popsicle sticks are all sorted by size and we got rid of a full box of materials that will not be used. YEY!
The men working on the telephone(?) box stirred up quite a bit of discussion with the crew today. They were setting up when we were on our way to school and were still hard at work on our way home after 4pm (and man was it cold!!!)
LONG overdue toy washing of Dr B's office toys. I'm not sure why I put it off sometimes. It really only takes about 1/2 hour of actual work. These have sat in the garage for at least 2 months. It feels good to get it done though and clear up the garage a bit.
Ski season and ski lessons began today! Hopefully those smiles will last all season. I, sadly, got a rebate on my pass this year. I'm not figuring that I will want to ski that much in my condition. Thankfully I can just put it to use next year.
Today was painting party day at the church. We had a great turnout and did a tonne of work in one day. The result is a very bright, cheery new preschool room. The kids helped and when they grew tired, they took in a movie in the library. It was a very productive but LONGGGG day (with Bible study afterwards!)
Matt has been taking 1:3 skating lessons with friends (1 instructor:3 kids). He has become a lot more confident and loves going FAST! I wish we'd seen if Marlee could have taken part too. They have some really good drills - using hoola hoops, foam octagon cubes, bean bags and pylons. I'm sure we could have done it on our own but the consistency of having to come to a lesson is needed at our end.
To say that Matt was THRILLED to have his Indiana Jones Lego set arrive in the mail is an understatement. He used his birthday money (a toonie party described here) to purchase the set online and then pestered every day to know when it would get here. Drew very patiently made a map and showed him how the package was tracked all the way here. It couldn't happen fast enough.
I am a SAHM striving to balance motherhood, child care providing, volunteering, hobbies and more with being the person God intends for me to be. I have a terrible memory and like to scrapbook so for me this blog ia a place to record those details. So know that I may just add in details and adjust them chronologically. That's just me!
