Day 349 - 2010

Marlee and I had a lunch date today. She picked Burger King so that she could get a Zhu Zhu pet. It wasn't exactly as she thought but she was still happy and despite the rush (this was a little far from school), she was glad to get some 1:1 time. Me too.


Marlee was so happy to play Mary in the manger scene in the 3rd showing of Back to the Manger tonight. I'm sure she smiled the whole time.

Day 346 - 2010

Marlee and Matthew participated in one of the three shows for their play production this term. It was 'Back to the Manger' and they all did an amazing job. They met weekly and helped on the creative team, building sets and props. On the final play days they joined the drama team for the manger scene. Marlee was so excited to be playing Mary for one of the shows. We have suggested that each term they choose one play for creative team and one play for drama.

Day 338 - 2010

Today's word was 'family'. They needed to unscramble the word to see where we are going to dinner tonight. God has given us so many wonderful people to fellowship with - people that we can in fact call family. Tell mom or dad the names of at least 5 different families that we fellowship with regularly.
We headed to church for our Christmas dinner. They were one of 3 families with children there - and they did remarkably well. It helps to bring supplies.

Day 255 - 2010

It was Fall Kick off day at church and the ponies were out...along with the jumping castles and snow cones.

Day 203 - 2010

Matt and his under water sea impression for under the sea day. I'm impressed he wore it for 1/2 the day!

Day 202 - 2010

I got quite a few compliments on my new do. Apparently pink could actually be my colour. I think for now we'll just stick to this style for crazy hair day. As you can see, I do like to participate to the best of my ability!

Day 201 - 2010

Just hanging out at day camp. This little guy has been SUCH a trooper! (I think it might actually be helping us get more of a routine going - YEY!) And btw - the hanging blanket is just to protect his legs from the sun - all totally coordinated as you can see - NOT!

A successful Day 1 of High Seas Adventure Camp - highlights including mustache day and a visit to the farm.

Day 178 - 2010

We had kindergarten graduation at church today. Marlee gets to move up to the next class in September. She received a certificate and a new bible to commemorate the occasion. I can't believe how grown up she is looking!

Day 121 - 2010

Matt was the 'P' in GPS today - the drama at church. They all did such a great job. He decided this term to be on the creative team rather then the drama side. I'll admit that we were a little disappointed - he's such a good singer - but he has thoroughly enjoyed himself. They made all the backdrops, the costumes and the props each night and then joined the drama side for snack and games.

Day 93 - 2010

We joined friends at the church for a road hockey game and then headed to Mac's for frosties.

Day 23 - 2010

we had small group at our house tonight and Drew found himself answering questions with a young friend about our sink plumbing and the workings of our water filter.

Day 22 - 2010

As Drew would put it, I've been busy nesting again these last few days. I prefer to see it as something I always do! It was about time that I went through the box of woodsies and other wooden craft materials from the church and sorted it all. Now all of the shapes have their own baggies, the Popsicle sticks are all sorted by size and we got rid of a full box of materials that will not be used. YEY!

Day 16 - 2010

Today was painting party day at the church. We had a great turnout and did a tonne of work in one day. The result is a very bright, cheery new preschool room. The kids helped and when they grew tired, they took in a movie in the library. It was a very productive but LONGGGG day (with Bible study afterwards!)

Day 9 -2010

Part of the aftermath of 16 kids at small group. It was a wild one - part of the reason we are now multiplying for 3 of the 4 weeks each month.

Day 354 - Sunday, December 20, 2009

I was honoured at church today for my role as Director of Children's Ministry (of which I am retiring) and later in the evening we joined a number of members to go caroling. Surprisingly the kids were much more gung ho then I thought they would be! It turned out to be a lot of fun.

Marlee helped me make apple crisp for my staff dinner later tonight and also for OOTC next week.

Day 343 - Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Matthew did his last performance of The Best Christmas Present Ever - and did an awesome job. He did learn some things from the previous 2 performances such as keeping his nose clean, being gentle with his partner and generally how to have fun.

Day 332 - Saturday, November 28, 2009

Matt and I spent the whole day at church where we reached out to the community and offered a free day of childcare so that parents could do Christmas shopping, errands, "whatever". The kids sang songs, learned about the real meaning of Christmas from "Billy Bob", played games, had snack and enjoyed an afternoon carnival. I had to leave before it was finished but I would certainly call the day a success.

Day 325 - Saturday, November 21, 2009

Drew and I enjoyed a few nights away at the leader's retreat learning about discipleship, conflict

and reconciliation. Thanks to our in-laws for holding down the fort!
