Day 90 - Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Marlee and I crammed a lot of errands in today. We dropped off a shelving unit at the ReStore, went grocery shopping, dropped some puzzles at the OEYC and stayed to paint for a bit. We then picked up Carter and had a leisurely afternoon. Marlee loves to shop with me - I'm considering changing my errand day to when she is home because she just likes to spend time doing things together. I can't complain - she is a good little shopper.!

Day 89 - Monday, March 30, 2009

The kids were so excited to be able to go to Colter and Carson's house for an hour after school today. They did tonnes of spinner art work and got to play with spider man. Needless to say, they didn't want to come home.

Day 88 - Sunday, March 29, 2009

Marlee was thrilled that I got to teach Sunday School today (because for some reason I managed to forget to put todays date on the schedule!!!). Here we are doing an activity showing how we can 'bubble over with thankfulness" (refer to story of 10 lepers where only one man came back to say thanks). I made a conscious decision a few months back to not teach as often right now but to be honest I do miss it.

Day 87 - Saturday, March 28, 2009

This is the "train" that was set up in our kitchen for most of the day. I had to sit in a side seat near the table.

Day 86 - Friday, March 27, 2009

Yes I do this. Often. Take pictures of things I like on TV that is. For instance, this is a backsplash from the tv show Designer's Inc that I like - and may one day want to use if we ever get a backsplash in our kitchen.

Day 85 - Thursday, March 26, 2009

Walmart had an amazing sale on their photo development - get any amount over 200 and the photos are 12 cents each! WOW! I've been waiting for an opportunity like this and finally got my photos from Israel done as well as some for different scrapbooking projects. Over 400 in total! That's a substantial savings! Or is it Sp-aving?

Day 84 - Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Marlee had a tough day at school with me volunteering today (several tears, not wanting to say goodbye) so we had a girls night out to the camp fair. It was a little smaller this year compared to last year and not much for our age group but still glad we went - if not just to spend some time together.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Day 83 - Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Girl's Night Out! We were able to enjoy a fabulous dinner and conversation with the girls at At the Five. Great food and company. It doesn't happen often enough!

Monday, March 23, 2009

Day 82 - Monday, March 23, 2009

We had some fun with shadows today. So nice to see the sun!

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Day 81 - Sunday, March 22, 2009

Marlee is so into drawing right now - with elaborate details. Often it is the "two of us, walking on the sidewalk with the sunshine". Thanks to Melissa and her scrap paper there is lots for her to do.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Day 80 - Saturday, March 21, 2009

A typical Saturday breakfast - I love homemade pancakes from scratch, with cut up banana and fruit or coconut syrup (from Hawaii!!!) and Silhouette Cherry yogurt and fruit punch. Yum yum!

Pancakes? 1.5 cup whole wheat flour; 1 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp choc chips; 1.75 tsp b powder; 1 tsp salt; 3 tbsp applesauce; 1 egg; 1.5 c milk.

Day 79 - Friday, March 20, 2009

Introducing Captain Camasa! Just ask him to do his dance!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Day 78 - Thursday, March 19, 2009

The kids have been introduced to Yop drinks by Ya-Ya - and there is currently a contest going on. The strategizing has begun as to how to get all the needed letters. All I can say is...we'll see!

Day 77 - Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Flylady (one of my favourite things) suggests that Wednesdays is anti-procrastination day. I've been procrastinating with finishing all of my mending so I finally got it done. Matt has drawstrings, Marlee has straps on her dresses, Cierra has her labelled undies, I have hemmed pants and the church has fixed beanbags. I wonder why I always put this off?

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Day 76 - Tuesday, March 17, 2009

What you can and can't tell from this photo:
  • It's St Patrick's Day (Marlee was the only one who would wear green)
  • It's a balmy 17 degrees out! First warm day in a LONG time!
  • Carter is getting stuck in the mud
  • The boys just tried to get all of the little balls into the gutters without much success
  • The kids just finished lollipops and freezies (I'm a nutritious mom and careprovider!)
  • We are trying to melt what little snow we have by putting it on the driveway
  • First time using the bikes this year
  • Diva is barking in the background, mad that she can't be with us but I don't want her getting any muddier
  • Hopscotch on the sidewalk

Day 75 - Monday, March 16, 2009

"Round and round she goes, when she stops, nobody knows"! Marlee loves to twirl - and amazingly, given her tendancy to hurt herself, never falls down!

Day 74 - Sunday, March 15, 2009

It was requested to have Matt's favourite meal for dinner tonight - perogies, meatballs, peas and corn (although I believe pizza alternates between #1 and #2). It was a late meal (7pm!) since it was such a nice day outside and thank goodness this is a quick and easy (and nutritious) one to prepare.

Day 73 - Saturday, March 14, 2009

We had small group over to our house tonight and one of Marlee's favourite people was here. She "entertained" or should I say "pre-occupied" Nick for a good part of the evening. We're lucky he's so accomodating - a sure sign he's ready to be a dad in a few months!!!

Day 72 - Friday, March 13, 2009

When we got home from school this morning, the kids were fascinated by the mini rainbows all over the kitchen, and wondered where they came from. We had a mini lesson on prisms and how the light hits them and causes the rainbows all over. We had fun trying to catch them when I made the prisms move. I love it when we see the rainbows - a true indication of the glorious sunshine. And what a day it was - sun shining and warmer weather. Spring is on its' way!

Day 71 - Thursday, March 12, 2009

Doesn't Cierra look awesome? She's been doing a class at school where they are trying out different hairstyles, beauty treatments etc. She has had ringlets, braids, and her fingernails done regularly. She obviously loves the extra attention and it looks great. I wish I had some sort of talent when it comes to hair.

Day 70 - Wednesday, March 11, 2009

It was a day for eating out. For lunch I met Drew at Scotty's and then after work, Melissa, Jan and I met Auntie Lynn and Cheryl for dinner. We went to Milestones. They all liked their meals so much from last time that they had the same things. It all looked good but I chose the grilled chicken with goat cheese and mixed greens. Yumm!! I only ate half though so I could have the chocolate cookie for dessert (see the photo???). Well worth it although everyone thought I was nuts to take half of it home in the same box with my chicken!

Day 69 - Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I went to Matt's school today for his Dinosaur Fair. He was so excited - the three grade one rooms were open and they showed us all of their creations from the last few weeks. His display was about the triceratops and the stegosaurus. They had a substitute teacher so it wasn't as well organized as it might have been, but it all ran smoothly. It was quite fun to see them all so excited. Now if they could just get over the "million years ago..."

Day 68 - Monday, March 9, 2009

Marlee had a blast listening to Hannah Montana all by herself. I LOVE these earphones - I need to remember to use them for the laptop. And I have to say, doesn't she look cute?

Day 67 - Sunday, March 8, 2009

Sorry J - I didn't ask if I could post you! The circled areas are the gifts my mom and I contributed - A Bride's Bag of Essentials. More is posted here.

Day 66 - Saturday, March 7, 2009

Daddy had an eager helper with putting up the curtains again. Hopefully they will stay up better this time. We opted out of skiing with friends today due to the gorgeous weather and less-then-likely good skiing conditions. Instead of spending much time outdoors though, we got several indoor projects done.

Day 65 - Friday, March 6, 2009

A beautiful spring day! We opted not to play at the school as it was a huge water puddle and one of the boys had a wipeout into one within 3 minutes. We did have a fun time walking home, splashing and lining up in the mud for a photo op. Half winter clothes, half spring. The kids are eager to get riding their bikes and play with less clothes. As much as I have loved this winter, I am too.

Day 64 - Thursday, March 5, 2009

Finished another book today! It was really quite good - I copied a lot of the "mantras" into my journal and my "Intentions for 2009". I timed it well - 28 steps for the 28 days of February (and a few days to make notes). I think I was well on my way to decreasing my busy-ness but this helped solidify a lot of the whys. And bonus? The author is evidently a Christian. Now that I'm finished there are a few people I'd like to pass this on to. [More will be on my other blog]. Anyway, it was nice to finish a book - it feels like it has been a while.

Day 63 - Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Poor Matt. He had to get another tooth pulled out today. Last week he was complaining about pain in his upper right tooth (which had a cap) and they recommended removing it as they couldn't see anything - implying it was an absess. They were right. He was a tough guy though and only cried a bit during the freezing. It took an hour for it to take and then the whole process took probably 2 minutes. He was eating dinner at 7:30pm. He was impressed that they had to take it out with pliers. Oh boy. Really - we do brush and floss at least 2 if not 3 times a day! He was surprised to learn that I have had at least 19 teeth removed over my lifetime (no not all cavities - I have a small mouth=))

Day 62 - Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Marlee helped with some painting this morning. I was able to get a piece of trim the exact size I needed - with a coat of white paint on it (the colour I wanted) for $2.70 at the Restore. Score! We put another coat of paint on it together. It will be put up in her room above her windows so we can put her curtains back up.

Day 61 - Monday, March 2, 2009

Sometimes it's the little things that really make me happy!!! I was SOOO excited to get this thing today! I went grocery shopping and AGAIN didn't have a loonie on hand for the cart. Then at the cash they had the little coin things for sale - and it works for loonies and quarters! I was literally smiling all the way home! And then laughing at myself for being so happy about such a little thing! But really it's a big thing! I love it!

Day 60 - Sunday, March 1, 2009

Matt discovered the Pokemon binder I completed for him yesterday. He was quite happy with the results. Being the Type A person that I am, we've been working on putting them in alphabetical and coloured order so that he can find the one he wants or more importantly, knows if he can trade it if he has duplicates. We also changed to a binder with a handle. In reality, he isn't even all that into them. We are lucky that Cierra had them and didn't mind him taking them over. His interest varies from month to month and to be honest I'm not even sure what he does with them. I know of several children that seem to be obsessed with them. He seems to be somewhat ambivalent -liking them one day and forgetting about them the next. And I am totally okay with that.

Day 59 - Saturday, February 28, 2009

Completed LOAD 2009! I uploaded my last page for the challenge. 28 layouts in 28 days! It went so much easier than last year. I think I am finally getting into my groove. I am comfortable with the fact that I primarily scraplift or use sketches and I am working in no particular order. One of these days I'll get a slideshow moving on the blog for all to see. For now - here is the latest (Scraplifted from SS J/F 07)

Day 58 - Friday, February 27, 2009

I am blessed with a husband who helps in the kitchen. Willingly. I usually prefer to do the kitchen stuff while he gets bedtime routine going but tonight the kids are away for a sleepover and he was willing. Thanks Drew! Love ya!

Day 57 - Thursday, February 26, 2009

Toy washing day. I've decided that with all of the ways that Dr B (and Jan) go out of their way for our family, the least I can do is help them clean their toys at the doctor's office. So I've committed (to myself) to go and switch toys, bringing home the ones there to clean and returning them again in at least a month's time (sooner if we have to go ourselves). It really only takes about a half hour to wash everything, leave it to dry and then store until we go again - that or I'll add it to my Monday errand days. And hey, it benefits us too right?

Day 56 - Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I was able to accompany Marlee on her school trip to the local park today. Pictured is the line of children on their way around the school - yep - that is Marlee sticking out her tongue at me. It seems that almost every time I want to take a picture of her she has to show me her tongue. We had a lot of fun for the short duration of the trip - surprisingly she wasn't nearly as clingy as she has been - maybe she is finally getting used to going. We commented on the sounds and sights of the woods and surrounding areas and then stopped for play time in the field beside the park (they can't play on the equipment when the ground is frozen). The girls made snow angels and the boys rolled down the hills. Surprise surprise. Again, though, it is so nice to be able to join them like this!
