Day 208 - Monday, July 27, 2009

I got my prize today for LOAD May 2009 in the mail! It is 2 issues of Simple Scrapbooks magazine, a SS bag and a SS button. I’ve never won anything of significance before. I got it because I was the first person to add a layout to the gallery in flickr. How cool is that? I actually already have the magazines (which are now put into my “vault” lol as the magazine has been cancelled =(), but that means I can take a few pages out or pass on the issue if I want. The bag is a great size for all the stuff I tote! I don’t know what it is about LOAD that gets me going but I am so much more productive when I am participating in it. I know the likelihood of getting a prize is slim so it must be the comments and the inspiration that I get that keep me going. Either way, prizes or not, LOAD rocks!– and this was just icing on the cake!

Camp Day - rained out again! We had planned ahead though and were able to go to a local hotel where we could swim and play mini golf. All in all the week was a great success. Even better? The leaders all got to debrief at week's end this year!

Day 204 - Thursday, July 23, 2009

Camp Day - Rained out! We made a change of plans from the local zoo and stayed on site with a movie and extra games inside. Everyone handled the changes really well. It cleared up enough for the parent's nite bar b-q to be outside.

Day 203 - Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Camp Day - on site. We set up a few water slides, rented some jumping castles, snow cone and candy floss makers to have a carnival day.

Day 202 - Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Camp Day - We went to a local provincial park and did a variety of activities. The kids enjoyed smores, looking at animals, eating snack and playing games.

Day 201 - Monday, July 20, 2009

Camp Day One! We made it on time except that Marlee forgot her shoes (Drew carried her out to the car from bed this moring). We went to the local bowling alley - the counsellors weren't too thrilled apparrently but Matt and Marlee sure loved it!

Day 200 - Sunday, July 19, 2009

The kids started the day off early getting prepped for summer camp. They love the music of Crocodile Dock. I love that I can teach it for Sunday School for the whole summer and get the little guys on the same playing field as their older friends.

Life beholds life. We went to the hospital to welcome Liberty (born yesterday) to our lives. Matthew in particular is fascinated by her.

Jen and Jon's wedding tonight! It was a 7 pm ceremony and a great night out - but I am no longer someone who can wear short tight"er" dresses - especially when spending most of the evening sitting.

We had the rare opportunity to watch 2 friends play hockey tonight. I'd like to say that the kids were as enraptured all night as they were in this photo but sadly no. They did enjoy the space to run around and annoy all of the other people around (well not really - but they were loud).

We all participated as a family in Running Room's 20 minute challenge - the challenge to "move" for at least 20 minutes. We were all glad to see that some friends were there too - it helped keep the kids motivated.

We had a few extra kids today so we took in T Park. The older guys enjoyed doing tricks under the pavillion. Matt was impressed by the "spin-outs".

We had our camper training tonight. We had some miscommunication so some of the adult leaders were away - meaning I had to lead most of the get-together. Just what I love. It all went smoothly though and the excitement is starting to build. Only a week and a half to go!

Day 186 - Sunday, July 5, 2009

The W's told us at church that they were going to the drive-in tonight so being the good friends we are, we invited ourselves along. We saw Ice Age 3 and Night at The Smithsonian. The kids stayed up for all of it (yes - that is 1:30am - The W's went home after the first show). There were a few questionable scenes (dinosaurs) but otherwise not TOO bad. Marlee was quite concerned at the one squirrel losing his chest hair. I don't blame her.

Nana, Poppa and Ya-Ya couldn't make it for dinner tonight but we decided to go to Pizza Hut anyway. We ordered way to much food - but leftovers are good.

Happy Canada Day! After Drew and the kids spent the day at the farm (giving me some time to myself), we watched a few episodes of Odyssey and then Drew and I watched Twilight. Oh the teen angst!
