Day 79 - 2010

Drew finally got around to putting up my Year-in-review photos. Shortly into the project he realized his measurements were a bit off - but he was able to rectify the problem...

Day 50 - 2010

Your scrap area right now

Okay. I know this is BAD. Really bad. And I have no excuse really. I am in the middle of LOAD but to be honest, this is how it usually looks. I need to put some papers away and purge some the pens on the desk but honestly, the area unseen has all of the dumped piles. What you see is nothing. The piles that I put in here to have the Superbowl party a week or so ago are still there - and still haven't gotten to. It doesn't really seem to cramp my creativity, I can usually find what I need (other then the paper pile) and no one else really uses this room, so??? On a brighter note, I have purged 2-3 boxes of stuff from here in the last month and plan to do more. In time.

February POTD Goals

In February 2007 I participated in an online class with BPS called 28 Days. It consisted of a daily photo challenge and various scrapbooking projects to do along the way - basically emphasizing (or rather encouraging us to remember) that we all could find the time to do a little bit of scrapbooking every day. Well I couldn't. I did take the photos but have only JUST NOW finished the little album I made for the class. I did do several of the layouts and projects but some just didn't interest me anyway. I was pretty happy with the results although why it took me 3+ years to finish the album is beyond me.

So, here we are 3+ years later and I am wondering if anything has changed. I dug out the daily photo challenge list and have decided to make those my photos of the day. I am not going to scrapbook them but will just use the blog as a way of presentation. We'll see how it goes!

Day 342 - Tuesday, December 9, 2009

I finished my Holiday in Hand (Jessica Sprague) display. Many of the points are similar to Journal Your Christmas but I like the format and if I do say so myself, the presentation.

Day 295 - Thursday, October 22, 2009

I spent most of the day quietly, with Marlee and the kids taking it easy (more tv then usual because of her surgery) but I did get my LOAD done - and I have to say - I think this may end up being a favourite!

Day 278 - Monday, October 5, 2009

My layout for the day. A take on my favourite breakfast. (I'm afraid that LOAD may have already started preempting my photo for the day!)

Day 269 - Saturday, September 26, 2009

The card I made for Melanie's shower (her first - and she is the mom-to-be!) She received a bride's bag of essentials too.

Day 259 - Wednesday, September 16, 2009

So sad for us. I will miss her articles in CK magazine - they were pretty much my favourite. I would have to say her style and organization have been very inspirational to me. But yey to her for putting her family first. We can learn from her.

Day 208 - Monday, July 27, 2009

I got my prize today for LOAD May 2009 in the mail! It is 2 issues of Simple Scrapbooks magazine, a SS bag and a SS button. I’ve never won anything of significance before. I got it because I was the first person to add a layout to the gallery in flickr. How cool is that? I actually already have the magazines (which are now put into my “vault” lol as the magazine has been cancelled =(), but that means I can take a few pages out or pass on the issue if I want. The bag is a great size for all the stuff I tote! I don’t know what it is about LOAD that gets me going but I am so much more productive when I am participating in it. I know the likelihood of getting a prize is slim so it must be the comments and the inspiration that I get that keep me going. Either way, prizes or not, LOAD rocks!– and this was just icing on the cake!

Day 152 - Monday, June 1, 2009

Last night I uploaded my final layout for the May LOAD (Lay Out A Day) with Lain Ehman. 31 Layouts - well actually 32 because my first layout (which happened to be the first actual uploaded for the challenge) was earlier in our time zone then in theirs so I uplaoded an extra one just in case.
Either way - May ended up being a little busier then I expected and this challenge was perhaps not the best timing but none-the-less I am so glad that I did it and I can't wait for the next one (but I will check the calendar more closely though).
PS - the slide show to the right features the layouts I did. TFL!

Day 121 - Friday, May 1, 2009

Started the May LOAD today! I'm not sure if I will be able to keep up this time but I'm certiainly going to try. It seems like it sort of sprung up on me this time! I'm looking forward to the inspiration again though! This layout is actually my second because the first one I loaded - although it was after midnight here, it showed up as April 30th on flickr. I'm glad I got it still done! This layout was from jessicasprague.com - showing us how to do hybrid scrapbooking.

Day 111 - Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Spent a fair bit of time today finishing up my 2 baby albums to donate to the silent auction fundraiser for SCS. A LOT more time involvement then I had thought (40 pages!) - but I love the results.

Day 96 - Monday, April 6, 2009

Finally working on some scrapbooking - and got a Christmas journaling page done.

Day 92 - Thursday, April 2, 2009

My very last issue of Simple Scrapbooks arrived in the mail today. I will truly miss it as it had a lot to do with how my personal style has evolved over the years. Many a scraplift was done from this magazine.

Day 85 - Thursday, March 26, 2009

Walmart had an amazing sale on their photo development - get any amount over 200 and the photos are 12 cents each! WOW! I've been waiting for an opportunity like this and finally got my photos from Israel done as well as some for different scrapbooking projects. Over 400 in total! That's a substantial savings! Or is it Sp-aving?

Day 59 - Saturday, February 28, 2009

Completed LOAD 2009! I uploaded my last page for the challenge. 28 layouts in 28 days! It went so much easier than last year. I think I am finally getting into my groove. I am comfortable with the fact that I primarily scraplift or use sketches and I am working in no particular order. One of these days I'll get a slideshow moving on the blog for all to see. For now - here is the latest (Scraplifted from SS J/F 07)

Project 365 Begins

I'm finally joining the bandwagon with my version of Project 365. Keep up to date with our lives as I post a picture a day for the next 365...

When I first read about this idea from Becky Higgins and Creating Keepsakes, I thought it might be too much work. The KOTM looked great though - just wasn't sure I could justify spending more money on another kit I haven't used yet. But then the kit sold out - glad I wasn't involved in THAT issue! However, I still began to take photos and (YIKES) actually journal each day about them. SOOO, I love the idea of taking a photo a day - so far it's been hard to narrow it down to one!

This was my original idea for my own album - to use the 5-insert album from Canadian Wholesale - and my own stash of papers. It holds 500 photos (see below). I would then journal for a few days in one pocket and later embellish the front cover. It was becoming a little too finicky for my time so I have opted instead to use up another area of "stash" - that being my leftover two-up pages with the paper in between. I'm going to store it in an empty album for now but would like to make my own cover at some point. I've run off daily "dates" using the tabs that come with it and cut up journaling papers. Ta da - ready to go!

Enjoy - TFL

Al

Added note: upon further contemplation (and laziness) I have decided that instead of a photo album, it will be much easier to turn this into a digital blog book at the end of the year. Come on back for further notice! And I hope it all works out! TFL!
